This substantial and beautiful three-piece Mercantile Cabinet is most impressive. Made from English Elm it emits a warm natural wood glow. English Elm has the look of pine, but is a much harder wood.
The six upper doors are constructed with eight panes of glass each. The lower doors are solid wood with recessed panels. Each door has an iron lock and there are a total of six keys that come with the cabinet. The upper section interior has been painted a barn red color which lends itself to a more primitive decor. All other areas maintain their original finish. The Crown piece is separate and is sitting on spacer blocks. If these blocks were removed it would lower the Crown by 1½ inches.
Low wattage electric flex tube lighting has been installed that runs the full length of each upper section shelf. New wood strips were added to the lower front edge of each upper shelf to hide the lights. These wood strips have been painted red to match the rest of the interior.
Condition: Portions of the lower cabinet section have been reinforced to safely support the upper cabinet. All glass in the upper doors is present and in tact. One of the lower locks is present but not working. Excellent overall condition with some age-appropriate wear.
Dimensions (overall):
- 12' 11" at the widest point of the Crown
- 21" deep
- 8' 7 ½" tall
