This unique, ornamental hammer was patented by Mitteldorfer Strauss of New York City, NY on January 10, 1928. The goat appears to be holding something in its mouth, which can be used as the striking end of the hammer. Its horns form the claw of the hammer. The bronze-head hammer was believed to have been given away as a premium with the purchase of a sack of flour in the 1920's. The detail and features of the goat are fantastic, and it retains its original patina. The wooden handle is original, and is in good condition with a small chunk of wood missing on the end as seen in the last photo.
Dimensions:
- 8 1/2" long
- 3 1/4 wide (the goat head)
